Taniwha

Taniwha

We read the myth about the Taniwha of the Wellington Harbour and retold the story for our shared writing on Friday, which we illustrated together.  We have also been working on producing our wonderful Taniwhas.  We drew patterns on their bodies and coloured them in with pastels. Then we applied black PVA glue over some of the patterns and painted the sea using blue and green dye.

Persevering at maths

Maths time

We have been focusing on perseverance in the classroom.  We brainstormed what persevering at maths would look like.  Here's what we came up with...

Never give up
Keep trying
Try to solve it a different way by using a different strategies
Use different equipment to help you
Think positive thoughts like...
"I can do this"

Here are some of us persevering with our basic facts

Learning to Persevere

"I do not like Green Eggs and Ham"

After reading Green eggs and Ham we created some wonderful art using pastel and dye. We wrote about things we never used to like until we tried them! There were plenty of interesting answers. Great art room 1.

What a fun morning!

NH90 Lands at Halcombe

All the children had a wonderful surprise this morning, when an airforce NH90 touched down on our playing fields.  The aircrew kindly gave the children a tour around the helicopter and the children got to ask questions and sit inside.
Thanks for such an exciting morning, we will be doing some exciting writing about this tomorrow!
