Our Wonderful day Out

Owlcatraz

Today Room 1 and 2 had a fabulous trip to Owlcatraz in Shannon.  The kids enjoyed learning about the Ruru and Weka.
Our trip began with a hilarious ride on the Thomas train.  We made it easily around the first lap but on the second we began to go backwards on the last corner.  Apparently we were too heavy...  Luckily the Fat controller was on hand to give us a push!

We had a tour through the Owl barn, where we got up close to the wonderful birds.  A few More pork decided to fly around us, which was very exciting.  We walked through the bush trail looking out for the 'frog on the log' and the all the other creatures that were scattered around.  We heard the Weka call and Brody's hat had to be rescued from inside the enclosure before the Weka ran off with it!

We had lunch with comedian Joey the Cockatoo and finished with a play in the playground.
What a great day.  Thanks to all our wonderful helpers for giving up your time and petrol to drive us safely there and back.  We couldn't have done it without you.
Here are a few pictures.

Gala

What a Fun Day Out!

Wow we had so much fun on Saturday at the Gala. The weather was kind to us and the children had so much fun on all the activities. Thank you to all our wonderful parents who kindly helped out before, during and after the gala day, as we couldn't have done it without you.

Birds

We love learning about birds.

Here are some great stories written by a couple of our writers in room one.  The children have been so keen to learn about birds and I was delighted to see two of them sitting down before school on Thursday with books open doing their own research! Keep up the fabulous work room one!

All About Birds

Birds, Birds, Birds.

Room 1 and 2 are learning about birds.  In Room 1 we have been finding out " What makes an animal a bird?" We have been reading books on birds to help us answer this question. On Thursday we were lucky to have a fabulous talk all about birds from Alannah's mum where we learnt about the different beaks and feet.  We handled birds bones and learnt that bird bones are hollow so they can fly.

Junior Swimming Sports

What a fabulous day for our Junior Swimming Sports.  The sun shone and the children had a great time demonstrating their skills. Thank you for all the Parents and Caregivers that came to support our juniors. All the children did so well and have all made improvements during our lessons.  It is a good idea to keep the swimming lessons going during the year, so they can build on these skills.
Great swimming room one!

This marks the end of the swimming programme as we will now be heading into athletics.

Buddy class

Friendship Bracelets

Room 1 had fun yesterday afternoon with our buddy class, making friendship bracelets.  We had to work together to plait and knot the colourful cotton.  Great teamwork!

Rainbow Fish

Fostering Relationships

We have been focusing on building positive relationships in and outside the classroom.  We read the Rainbow Fish  and afterwards the children wrote some stories and produced some wonderful art.  Here  is their art and a few stories to read...
