Our Gingerbread Men

This week we read the big book The Gingerbread Man.  We wrote some wonderful stories and yesterday we made gingerbread men.
We had to measured out the ingredients and mix it all together to form a dough.  We used cookie cutters to cut out the biscuit base and then we decorated them with smarties and icing.
They smelt delicious!
“My favourite part was decorating my gingerbread man,” said Maisie
“I shared some of my biscuits with my brother,” said Emily
“I liked rolling out the dough and cutting out the shape," said Lucy
“I loved eating it was yummy,” said James

“ I enjoyed pouring the ingredients into the bowl,” said Taylor

Science

Science using our senses

We talked about which senses we would rely on if we didn't have sight, then we did a couple of experiments.
First we buddied up and went for a walk outside using blindfolds.  We had help from our buddies to guide us around so we didn't bang into objects.  We soon realised that we needed to rely on our sense of touch and hearing if we didn't have sight.
Afterwards we all had blindfolds and we listened to some instructions on how to draw a cartoon cat.  We had to listen carefully but found the exercise difficult because we couldn't see where our lines were.  We worked out that if we left on pencil on our page we could keep our lines closer together. It was really hard!

Shared Writing

Another Big Book

This week we read another fabulous book by Jill Eggleton, titled Mrs Mc Fee.  Today we rewrote our own version of the story and had fun illustrating it.  This book now sits in our library corner.  Pop in and have a read.
