Shared writing

Waterwise

We are learning about how to be safe in and around the water. Yesterday we watched a short educational cartoon with Timon and Pumbaa about being Water wise.  Following the clip the children worked in pairs to brainstorm rules for water safety. Their rules have been made into a manual , which now sits on our classroom wall.

Shared writing

In writing today the children worked in small groups and took turns sharing the pen to write their message. They really enjoyed this activity and it was a good exercise to see how well they could work together. I asked them to each write a sentence about what they enjoyed at school this week.

Meet the class of 2015

We are a fun bunch!

The first week was all about getting to know each other and establishing class routines. We looked at what makes a good friend and room 2 student.

We  have been learning about relating to others and what it means.  After reading the story of the Rainbow fish, we talked about friendships. The children were asked to write about one thing they could do to help a friend.  Here's what they said...

What could you do to help a friend?
Give them a hug - Jayda
If they fall , maybe pick them up- Bella
To help a friend I would tell a joke - Jay
Make people laugh when they are sad- Josh
Hug them when they are sad- Austin
Make friends laugh- Christian
Tell them a funny joke- Hilton
Help people when they are hurt- Kaleb
If someone is hurt I would take them to Mrs Otter- Matthew
Help them if they are sad- Lydia
You can help others- Lily
Make them laugh and play with them- Mikayla
Help them when they hurt themselves- Sophie
Help someone by making people laugh- Hannah
Help someone if they are hurt- Caleb
Make them laugh and happy - Brooklyn
When she's sad I'll help them- Maia
Help them make them feel better- Jayden
I would help them if they fell over- Natala
Help your friends. Sad people need help- William
Help them when they are stuck . Help them when they are struggling. Help them when they are crying - Sophia

We created our friendship rainbow fish , which looks magnificent in our classroom!
